Just when you think you know what to expect from a Run Devil Run video episode they do something different and take it to a new level. This is a music video. But it’s not Run Devil Run’s music. It is—as the title suggests—”Girls, Girls, Girls”. I started to say that the first thing that comes to mind is that they should be filming their own music videos with their own music. But that wasn’t the first thing that came to mind. The first thing that came to mind was “who are these guys??” The plot is that 4 dorks get an extreme makeover which unleashes their inner “Crue”. Kudos to the makeup and costume people! They did two, makeovers for each band member. First they had to transform the very cool guys we know and love into unrecognizable dweebs. When I say unrecognizable, I mean I didn’t recognize them in the first shots. It wasn’t until we got some close-ups that I went “Oh. My. God. That’s them.” I thought that it should be the band in the opening shots of the dweebs, but I just couldn’t match anyone’s face up, so I thought that maybe these were some extras ’cause friends help out with these vids (and do a damn fine job of it, too). So, no, I couldn’t recognize them at first. Then they each are lured away one by one and given a Motley Crue style make-over. Which was funny because these guys are totally rock stars anyway, but now they’re like extreme Crue clones with major hair. (Where did they get the wardrobe??? Did they have this stuff in their closet? Quick, someone go look!)
What’s all this in aid of? The Sunset Strip Music Fest! Run Devil Run kicks it off next Tuesday at the Key Club. This vid is maybe their longest yet at nearly 9 minutes. A lot of that are credits—all the bands that will be playing, all the great people that made this video possible—but you may not want to skip the credits ’cause there are “girls, girls, girls” (and some guys too) mixed in with the credits.
